An operation I built and ran
Rockford Financial was my self-funded reselling business. I was the sole owner and operator, building the automation that supported purchasing and running the business around it.
Software meets the physical world
I established purchasing and receiving outposts in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the UK to acquire region-locked inventory.
The operation depended on long-term relationships with 10–15 international contacts handling receiving, distribution, and bulk purchasing in their markets. Automation was part of the system; reliable people and physical logistics were just as necessary.
The result
Over seven years, the operation moved more than 50,000 units and generated over $6 million in revenue, excluding software licensing. This experience still shapes how I think about applying AI to a business: the software has to work within the actual operation.
